Sari M. Friedman, the founding attorney at Friedman & Friedman PLLC, Attorneys at Law has recently been awarded the 2012 Leadership in Law Award by Long Island Business News. The Leadership in Law Award specifically recognizes hard work, experience, dedication and skill, and professional excellence as those qualities sought after for the prestigious award. This award is given to those individuals whose leadership in the community and the legal profession has had a positive impact throughout Long Island.
Long Island Commercial Review was launched in 1953 by newspaper reporter Arthur Hug and the husband and wife team of John and Peg Whitmore, yet its name was eventually changed to the Long Island Business News in 1987. Hug was a reporter for the leading newspaper in the 1930s, the Nassau Daily Review Star. He later worked for Newsday and he served as a copy editor for World Telegram & Sun. The paper was sold to Paul Townsend in 1958, who at the time was the development director of North Shore Hospital. The paper was sold to Dolan Media Inc. in 1998, which put John Kominicki in charge of the publication, and Mr. Kominicki remains the publisher to this day.
The Long Island Business News is said to be Long Island's only publication that is devoted to local commerce and has been Long Island's premier source of business news and economic trends for the last 50 years. It is also Long Island's number one source for news on Long Island's 120,000 businesses. The paper places special focus on Long Island's educational, healthcare, high-tech, financial, and professional service sectors, as well as real estate and development on Long Island.
